Three ways to reduce the deformation of crossed plate castings

The deformation of the crossed plate castings tends to reduce the casting accuracy, and the castings can be scrapped in severe cases and should be prevented. Because the casting deformation is caused by casting stress, the method of reducing and preventing casting stress is an effective measure to prevent casting deformation.

  (1) reasonably design the structure of crossed plate casting

The more complex the shape of the casting, the greater the difference between the thickness of each part, and the more uneven the temperature during cooling, the greater the casting stress. Therefore, in the design of castings, the casting should be as simple as possible, symmetrical and uniform in thickness.

  (2) the crossed plate casting adopts simultaneous solidification process

Simultaneous solidification means taking some technological measures so that the temperature difference between the parts of the casting is very small and almost simultaneously solidified. Because of the small temperature difference between parts, it is difficult to produce thermal stress and hot crack, and the casting deformation is small. Try to improve the casting, mold core concessions, reasonable setting, pouring, riser and so on. The schematic diagram of the process is to add cold iron to the thick wall of the workpiece and the riser to the thin wall.

  (3) aging treatment of crossed plate casting is an effective measure to eliminate casting stress.

Aging is divided into natural aging, thermal aging and resonance aging. The so-called natural aging is to put the casting in the open-air field for more than half a year, so that the internal stress should be eliminated. Hot aging (artificial aging), also known as stress annealing, is to heat the casting to 550-650 degrees, heat preservation 2-4h, with the furnace cooling to 150-200T, and then baked. Resonance method is to shock the casting at its resonance frequency 10-60ndn, so as to eliminate the residual stress in the casting.
